Animation

We collaborated with Kitty & Raffy Books to create a high-end animated brand video that brought the magic of their storybook to life. Working from flattened design files with no layered elements, we reconstructed and reimagined each environment, carefully separating artwork into animate-able layers and inventing backgrounds consistent with the original illustrations. The animation not only showcased the book’s unique visual identity, but also integrated real customer reviews—blending aesthetic fidelity with authentic user experience. The final result is a captivating motion piece that feels like a living page from the book itself, honouring both the integrity of the illustrations and the emotional connection readers have formed with the story.

Project Objectives

  1. Recreate flat artwork into layered, animatable scenes that remain visually consistent with the original book.

  2. Blend narrative animation with real customer reviews to emotionally connect viewers with the story.

  3. Deliver a polished video asset that could be used across web, social, and in-store marketing.

Project Scope

  • Artwork Recreation: Reverse-engineered layered files from flattened artwork, inventing hidden elements and reconstructing environments to match the illustrated style.

  • Animation: Designed and animated scenes that follow the book’s emotional journey, including review text reveals and subtle character/environment motion.

  • Voice + Sound: Professionally recorded and directed a warm, calming voiceover. Paired with gentle music and sound design to reflect the book’s tone.

  • Post-production: Polished visuals, added pacing dynamics to match voiceover rhythm, and exported versions optimised for multiple platforms.

Results

The final animation became a cornerstone asset for the brand, used in both launch campaigns and evergreen marketing. Parents praised its authenticity and emotional warmth, while the client reported a measurable increase in engagement and direct clickthrough to purchase. The animation also helped reinforce the book’s identity as more than a story—it’s a trusted emotional support tool for children.

Lessons Learned

  • Reconstructing artwork without layered files requires deep artistic fidelity and patience—but delivers standout results when done right.

  • Customer reviews, when beautifully integrated into story-driven animation, can feel both personal and powerful.

  • Maintaining consistency with existing illustration styles is critical when animating beloved children’s books—every visual decision must feel “of the world” of the original story.
