Project Objectives:
Produce a visually striking music video for To Be Loved: An Adele Dedication, showcasing the artist’s powerful vocal performance while honouring Adele’s emotional storytelling.
Leverage cinematic lighting, dynamic camerawork, and the unique industrial textures of Bakehouse Studios to create an atmosphere that feels raw, intimate, and timeless.
Deliver a final product optimised for YouTube and social platforms, designed to connect with existing fans and attract new audiences through strong visual storytelling.
Project Scope:
Creative Planning:
We collaborated closely with the band to define the visual style, taking direct inspiration from reference videos they supplied. This involved extensive preparation, briefing each band member, and mapping out how to balance cinematic lighting, long takes, and a carefully chosen location to create both intimacy and scale.
Production:
Filming required a complex lighting setup and a steady camera rig to ensure smooth, continuous movement. Although shot with a single camera, we used varied angles and carefully staged movements to give the impression of a multi-camera production. Multiple run-throughs were completed to perfect timing, mood, and emotional delivery before the final takes.
Post-Production:
Editing was focused on maintaining emotional consistency with Adele’s original track, enhancing the dramatic lighting captured on set, and weaving the footage together so it felt fluid, natural, and deeply moving.
Results
The final video delivered a high-end, cinematic feel that elevated the band’s performance into something unique and emotionally powerful. By replicating elements of the original inspiration but adapting them to a new style and location, the project gave the band a professional showcase piece that feels polished, emotive, and performance-driven.
Lessons Learned
Even a one-camera setup can feel like a multi-camera production with the right planning, staging, and steady rigging.
Thorough pre-production — including detailed band briefings and rehearsal run-throughs — is essential for achieving an authentic and emotionally resonant performance.
Creative lighting design can dramatically enhance the emotional storytelling of a musical performance.
